Scion FR-S named 2013 AutoGuide.com "Car of the Year" and "Top Pick" by Autos.ca

- AutoGuide.com describes 2013 FR-S as "stand-out winner among its competitors" that is setting "new benchmarks in its class" and is "an important car for the automotive history books"

- autos.ca offers top pick accolade for "steering, response and control" and bringing back "fun-to-drive"

TORONTO, Ontario, December 19, 2012 - The 2013 Scion FR-S has been recognized by AutoGuide.com as its “car of the year” and has also been named a "top pick" by autos.ca.

AutoGuide.com is a website that offers the latest automotive news and reviews based on "thorough tests of every car on the market." In a detailed article outlining why the FR-S is the online publication’s choice for car of the year, Colum Wood, Editor-in-Chief, described how "a sports car should be agile, well-balanced, responsive and intuitive, responding to driver inputs."

The FR-S, he wrote, "takes these qualities to an impressive level and flatters the driver."

Wood added that the car "delivers a level of fun and coolness that no smartphone can." In conclusion, he stated that the Scion FR-S is "an exceptional car” that “doesn’t just live up to the hype, it exceeds it."

Further endorsing the engineering excellence of the FR-S, Autos.ca noted why the FR-S is a top pick: "One of the most talked-about vehicles in recent memory, the FR-S has lived up to the insane hype. With steering, response, and control, the FR-S has brought back fun-to-drive and rear-wheel drive to value-conscious consumers."

The Autos.ca staff of eight editors and writers ranked each vehicle for sale in Canada for the 2013 model year. Their assessment to choose "top picks" in each of 10 vehicle categories was based on factors including styling, comfort, functionality, quality, performance, fuel economy, safety features, reliability, and value for money, as well as class-specific aspects such as cargo capacity, payload, towing, utility, and ground clearance.
